Honduras Guara Verde
In the heart of Honduras, in the middle of the mountainous highlands, between the Pacific and the Caribbean Sea, lies the small coffee cooperative COMIPRONIL (Cooperativa Mixta de Productores del Norte de Intibucà Ltda.) at an altitude of 1500 meters. Surrounded by high mountains and valleys with endless forests of Honduran pine trees, members of the indigenous Lenca people live here. Founded in 2003, the COMIPRONIL cooperative currently has around 130 members, many of them so-called madres solteras (single mothers) who manage their small coffee farms.
Traceability of our coffee is of paramount importance to us at Turm Kaffee. We visited the COMIPRONIL cooperative and discussed coffee cultivation, harvesting, and current challenges such as climate change firsthand. Our coffee producer, Maria Lizzeth Gomez, brings great dedication and expertise to coffee production. Like other members of the cooperative, she has replaced old coffee plants with Arabica Lempira varieties, which are more resistant to pests and fungal diseases.
Order "Turm Kaffee Honduras Guarda Verde" and make a statement for fair trade routes and the financial independence of local producers.
